MA Graduates 2010

In January 2010, Southbank Centre played host to Cape Farewell’s SHIFT festival, a stimulating, provocative and energising programme of climate-focused cultural events.

The Centre for Sustainable Fashion were proud to be a part of the festival, showcasing fashion’s creative responses to the social, cultural and ecological dilemmas of our era.

Within the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer across four days, we brought together three projects as our contribution to celebrating the power and beauty of fashion as a communicator, providing us with opportunities to shift the way we think and behave on a daily basis, whilst offering space and time to marvel at the wonder of human ingenuity and innovation.

As part of SHIFT, we profiled the first ever graduate showcase from London College of Fashion’s MA Fashion & the Environment. The work on display explored a range of opportunities and design challenges where ingenuity and resourcefulness are inspired through living within nature’s limits, putting human wellbeing at the heart of creativity and questioning the current status quo.

Our first cohort of graduates have now spread their wings and are each forging exciting new careers in fashion with sustainability at the heart. We look forward to keeping you up to date with their progress. In the meantime, you can view a selection of their work in the gallery below.
