LCF and Oasis Collaborate

Last week Oasis stores and CSF collaborated on a successful night. Jemima Penny from the MA Fashion and the Environment headed over to investigate. Here is what she said:
OASIS are Fashionably Fabulous with their sustainable styling evening!
As part of their ‘Fashionably late’ events this spring, Oasis teamed up with our very own Centre for Sustainable Fashion to bring customers an evening of sustainably-minded style last Thursday at their flagship store on Argyle Street.
The idea behind the event was to provide customers with a bespoke styling service aimed at increasing the longevity and emotional attachment we have with the classic pieces in our wardrobes.
A team of stylists from LCF were on hand to advise customers on how to make the best of their buys – helping us choose flexible pieces that would become wardrobe staples for not just spring, but many seasons to come.
The atmosphere on the night was great, with customers being ushered into the store on a red carpet, making for a fabulous fashionista entrance and a welcome escape from the drizzle outside! Live DJ sets kept the vibe in-store funky and fun, and a team from Benefit make-up added a touch of glamour to the proceedings, handing out vouchers for makeovers to go with our new wardrobes.
On arrival, after being plied with tokens for scrummy gin cocktails at the upstairs bar, we were given the low-down on the evening, and encouraged to book appointments with the stylists, who were set up in a specially designated area with rails of handpicked pieces from the current Oasis collections.
The shop was packed all evening and there was some fantastic style advice on offer to help us get the most from our wardrobes in these recession driven times. Tips included ways of keeping our outfits flexible and fresh with clever accessorizing and customizing techniques, and how to pick a classic silhouette. Learning to recognize the shapes that suit us best, and how to choose items that will give us years of satisfying wear, not just one season, were also invaluable pieces of advice from the styling team.
All in all the evening was a huge success, and I felt there was even scope for developing the concept further still. It’s fantastic to see an established high street brand like Oasis raising the bar by becoming one of the first to celebrate sustainability and fashion, and hopefully this pioneering night will pave the way for other similar events. The brand has also been supporting new design talent and we look forward to seeing what exciting collaborations and events might result from this in the future.
Here’s to Oasis, the CSF, and many more great evenings like this at a store near you soon!
